Multiple types of glass:
There are thousands of different types of glass with distinct properties and performance characteristics. Some, like mirror, are easily recognizable, but most are not. Glass comes in different thicknesses, sizes, strengths and can have multiple panes (called lites) with sealed spaces between them. Glass can have different coatings and inserts, as wire or laminates and varying levels of reflectivity and transparency, as well as color.
There have been incredible advances in glass during the past 30 years, making the right type of glass an excellent energy-saving product. You just have to choose the right kind and have it installed property.
Glass wears out:
Average consumers expect glass to last forever without any maintenance or attention, they expect glass ever getting scratched or poked or damaged over time. This is especially true for high performance insolated units that are gas-filled. They can last a long time, but eventually, their effectiveness will wane. Glass wears out.
Some types of glass are more prone to breakage than others. It rarely means the glass is defective, there are lots of different levels of resistance, each type of glass is resistance tested, depending on their needs, customers must choose the correct type of glass to use.
